DWI stands for “Driving While Intoxicated.” This means that you are driving a car or other vehicle and are under the influence of drugs or alcohol that affect your ability to properly operate your vehicle.

DWI’s are not limited to just cars. A person may be arrested for DWI when operating a boat, plane, or even bicycle, depending on their local laws.

DWI’s are a criminal offense in most countries, and usually results in anything from heavy fines, jail time, and loss of driving privileges. In the United States alone, over one million arrests are made for drunk driving every year.
