A UTI, or a urinary tract infection, can feel different to each person who has one. Some people know that they have a UTI by a very painful feeling each time that they have to urinate (or “pee”). For others, the symptoms are that they can urinate but experience a feeling that they are not fully emptying their bladder or have pain in the lower abdomen in the middle of peeing. Cloudy or foul smelling urine with a fever may also mean that there is a UTI . Some people also feel a very dull backache on the sides of the back, where the kidneys are located if the infection spread from the bladder to the kidneys. If you think you have a UTI, seek help from a trusted adult and a health care provider so they can evaluate your urine.
