E-cigarettes are electronic devices that heat a liquid and produce an aerosol (which is a mix of small particles in air) which contain nicotine, flavorings and/or other chemicals. Users use the e-cigaretter to inhale the aerosol into their lungs. Most e-cigarettes have a battery and a place to hold a liquid. They come in many shapes and sizes. Some look like actual cigarettes, cigars, or pipes. Some can look like USB flash drives, pens, and other everyday items.
E-cigarettes are known by many different names. They are sometimes called “e-cigs,” “e-hookahs,” “mods,” “vape pens,” “vapes,” “tank systems,” and “electronic nicotine delivery systems (ENDS).” Using an e-cigarette is sometimes called “vaping” or “JUULing.”
