You might consider protein shakes for meal replacements on occasion as often times they are loaded with nutrients that most people just don’t get in their average diet. Protein shakes are also very effective in helping your body recover after a strenuous workout and helps your muscles repair themselves.
However, replacing all of your meals with protein shakes or diet shakes will not result in a well balanced diet and actually can be quite devastating to your digestive system because they are very low in fiber.
If you drink protein shakes too often it is quite possible that you will develop diarrhea, which can be extremely unpleasant. You probably should only substitute a solid meal with a protein shake a maximum of once a day and be sure that the rest of the food you eat that day is nutrient-rich and has lots of fiber.
Don’t forget to involve your guardian or your health care provider in on your dietary changes so that they can help your diet stay balanced and that you are getting enough calories for you to stay healthy.
