The age that girls begin their first menstrual cycle varies. Some girls start their first period as young as 8 years old, while others have not started by the age of 15. Girls who are underweight or athletes often start menstruating later in their teens. Also, how old a teen’s mother was when she started her period may effect when a teen starts her period. Most importantly, visiting a doctor or health provider would also be a good idea. This will rule out any medical conditions and simply put your mind at ease.
